Keith Gray's son Steven Gray is the Manager of Osseointegration Services & Anaplastology within the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit at Melbourne's Alfred Hospital. As director of the OPRA Programme at the Alfred Hospital he is heading a team in trials of an entirely new type of leg - one that screws directly onto an amputee's stump with the twist of an allen key. Surgery on the first Australians to be fitted with the new leg took place in 2002. |
